Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Accept change on the project and be methodical in your work arounds to support the project. This may involve supporting other team members scope but use your resources and energy to support the Project. You may be required to carry out tasks not necessarily your daily routine but required to support the project.
Ensure the team members execute the work in a safe and most effective least cost manner. Offer other ways of carrying out tasks without unduly affecting the morale of the team members, keep the team motivated.
“Lead by Example”, if you do not do it, do not expect others to do it.
Carry out performance reviews of your team members as required, provide timely feedback on their performance both positive and negative.
Have a “Coaching and Mentoring” approach to people’s shortfalls in their ability or skills. Encourage other people to excel.
Communicate openly and honestly at all times, if something is wrong communicate early so the project can adjust or mitigate delays and cost.
Support your Supervisor on a day to day routine by reporting in person each day.
Participate in Reward and Recognition events to be held during the course of the project, and apply appropriate recognition towards your own team.
As Supervisor, you will monitor timekeeping of your team members and address any issues immediately.
Your time is to be managed to allow you to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and be punctual at all times.
Attend training sessions as required and ensure your team members attend training as planned. Failure by yourself or your reports to attend mandatory training to perceived site priorities is not acceptable – you are expected to be able to plan and execute both.
Assist with strategic activities as directed - such as additional contractors; management reporting; planning meetings; mobilization and demobilization; and progress analysis. As such, keep your supervisor advised of any performance trends
Attend and interact at meetings as required including but not limited to: Construction Manager POD meeting, Interfaces of 3 Week lookahead and 120 Day Reviews (Infrastructure and SMP reviews), Coordination site meetings in your facility, Contract Meeting and Readiness meetings. These may be chaired by yourself or others.
Understand and monitor the turnover performance to forecast completion for allocated areas of responsibility; and identify early any over-run of delivery timing. Ensure closeout of activities as per the agreed deliverables in 25875-000-GPP-GCX-00009 Project Procedure – Systems Completion and Turnover.
Converse with all disciplines and work groups including Engineering, Contracts, Employee Relations, Construction, PreComs, ES&H, Project Controls and Project Management to work to the Project Plan.
Use the Bechtel Electronic BSAP tools and system reports being used by the BPJV team to carry out as directed any overall performance analysis.
Coordinate with the SMP2 General Superintendent to identify any areas of improvement to achieve the facility milestones and construction sustainable rates.
Support the Pre-Commissioning management team to handover the facility systems to the client’s commissioning team (e.g. Assist with the close-out of critical punch lists).
Liaise with the client’s 3 week lookahead schedule.
Schedule and minute weekly facility coordination meetings with all facility’s stakeholders to discuss the resolve any pending roadblocks and interfaces.
Coordinate the facility interfaces between the SMP contractor, E&I contractor, and civil and infrastructure contractor.
Facilitate systems turnover and handover process between the construction team and the handover team (e.g. assist with the close-out of critical punch lists).
At the weekly critical path meeting, update the Project Management team with overall facility progress and highlight any major concerns.
Facility Manager Duties:
Responsible for the overview of contractor performance for allocated areas of responsibility. This will involve planning and installation of Structural steel, Piping and Mechanical equipment (SMP) and E&I scope areas. Inclusive is the management of any testing in accordance with drawings and specification and Project Standards and coordination of the works.
Monitor and report the overall facility progress, sustainable rates, and milestones, consulting with the Construction Management relative to any mitigations actions.
Monitor the facility engineering scope and escalate any identified delays to the engineering manager and site management team.
Assess the structural steel, piping, mechanical and E&I procurement process and site deliveries and escalate any identified delays the Procurement Manager and site management team.
Take responsibility for your facilities and be the Owner and full knowledge of the area at all times. Understand and communicate in advance Scope of Work to be undertaken by the SMP2 Contractor(s) and coordinate daily to ensure performance and quality.
Meet or beat weekly quantities to be installed to support Project schedule in a safe methodical manner. Use the Bechtel Electronic BSAP tools being used by the BPJV team to carry out analysis of the contractor(s) performance.
Identify materials, tools, labour, and equipment which may be required to Project milestones and Schedules and check that the Contractor has adequate resources to suit.
Overview punch list completion processes to ensure the items are worked off in a timely manner in accordance with project standards to meet turnover dates in a safe methodical manner. You may be responsible for co-ordination of other disciplines and team members to close punch list items, this may include liaising with Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning groups and others and organizing and facilitating meetings.
Co-ordinate between Dayshift and Nightshift in an efficient manner as required to deliver allocated areas of scope.
Review and approve Daily Reports in detail and file for history per the BPJV format. Concentrate on facts, weather conditions, team locations on tasks and equipment locations and conversations.
The delivery of materials and equipment are a logistical task. Monitor schedule and ensure materials and equipment are supplied on time. In the event that deliverables are late, be proactive and optimistic with a work around as not to affect the Construction Schedule. Resolve interface work related issues in the field between work groups to ensure safety and schedule is maintained.
Understand the Scope of Work with reference to your work packs and areas of responsibility. Understand and plan to install quantities per the schedule.
Ensure the utilisation of equipment is maintained and co-ordinate all pool equipment best for project, this requires sharing of equipment and co-ordination with other work groups.
Understand specifications and drawings and be able to check compliance in the field in relation to quality and vendor installation manuals.
Converse with all disciplines and work groups including Engineering, Contracts, Employee Relations, Project Controls and supervisors to resolve matters in the field and to work to the Project Plan.
Understand and monitor the QURR (Qty Unit Rate Report) to track Performance Forecast (PF) to determine any issues such as overrun/underrun in a facility or Unit. Keep your supervisor advised of any trends.
Ensure that Scope Change and rework is identified and recorded for costs up and down in accordance with Project procedures and guidelines. Ensure no additional work is carried out unless a Trend is approved or unless approved with Budget allocated by Project Controls. A Variation Order Request (VOR) approved by the Client is required to be given to the Contractor before work may proceed.
