Job Summary: The Waste Management Officer will develop and implement process and programs to ensure safe and efficient solid and hazardous waste handling and disposal during the operation of the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Waste Management and Control
Ensure plans and processes are in place and able to deliver safe and timely management and disposal of waste generated from plant operations.
Develop the capabilities required for the effective implementation of those plans and processes in procedures, assessments and training to maintain effective waste management.
Fulfilling the role of Power User for the Operations Management System implemented in the plant.
Management of Waste Contract
Assist in the procurement of a capable waste contractor.
Oversee and ensure the timely mobilization of the waste contractor.
Manage the waste contractor on day to day basis to ensure efficient utilization and diligent implementation of their contract.
Provide administrative services associated with the waste contract.
Waste Facilities Management
Ensure all facilities and equipment available at the plant meets the requirements for safe and effective waste control which include but are not limited to:
Solid and hazardous waste handling facilities for units1 to 4.
Skips, bins and other containers provided by the waste contractor or procured by Nawah.
All transportation and handling equipment used throughout the waste life cycle.
Promoting Sustainable Waste Practices
Initiate, implement and facilitate waste reduction and recycling process and campaigns throughout the organization by coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
Support other sustainability initiatives and campaigns initiated by the Environment department.
Health and Safety and Security
Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure Health and Safety compliance in all aspects of work in accordance with sound management practices by applying these Health and Safety policies and procedures to self and others to take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of people, or the environment, who are at the employee's place of work who may be affected by the employees acts or omissions at work.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities.

Ensure commitment to a culture of continuous improvement by eliminating waste, following operations procedures, practicing innovation, problem solving, and teamwork; complying with Quality Management System policies and procedures; providing and receiving constructive feedback, and striving to meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
At least three to four years’ experience in a similar role in a power plant or other complex industrial setting
Experience in environmental field in UAE or in a Korean nuclear power plant
