Job Summary: The Cleaning Manager, Food Safety & Cleaning Services is responsible for managing the cleaning function in the Food Safety & Cleaning Services Department and ensuring compliance with established Hygiene & Cleaning standards and Airline Customers standards. 


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 Plan, direct and control all cleaning activities while ensuring compliance with the prescribed Hygiene & Cleaning standards and airline customers’ standards

  • Ensure that staffing levels for the cleaning function are as per work requirement and that the staff operate effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure the maintenance of cleaning supplies/equipment stock levels as per requirement, ensuring they are sufficient to meet daily demands
  • Responsible for rostering, training and development of cleaning staff
  • To be aware of new cleaning products/equipment and review proposals for purchase of the same along with the Assistant Vice President-Hygiene & Cleaning in order to ensure that the company is using the latest in cleaning and housekeeping products
  • Guide the Cleaning staff on department goals, prescribed standards and ensure that they follow the safety instructions while handling chemicals
  • Establish work schedule together with Cleaning Supervisor and resolve any staff related issues
  • Ensure that current cleaning and good working practices are observed in relation to hygiene at work
  • Make recommendations to the Assistant Vice President-Hygiene & Cleaning identifying areas where improvements to the quality of the service provided may be achieved.
  • Comply with Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities Standards and Quality Policy


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The applicant must hold a Graduate or Diploma in Hotel Management and/or Catering Management or an equivalent qualification Graduate Degree or Diploma holder in any discipline
  • Five years’ experience in a similar role. Previous experience in an In-flight catering unit is preferred
  • High standards of verbal and written communication in English
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent supervisory skills and team motivation skills
  • Ability to resolve internal and external customer complaints and anticipate emerging customer needs to continually improve service standards
  • A professional manner with the ability to work under pressure to meet targets and achieve results
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain constructive relationships with others
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally and at all levels and team based approach including ability to positively manage conflict
  • Delivers effective, well-structured written/ spoken communication, with impact and energy
  • High level of commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to change
  • Supports creativity and innovation by showing commitment to agreed initiatives
