Job Summary: The Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN will provide support and assistance to students with learning support needs to help identify and address their learning support needs, and monitor response to interventions, in order that they access a curriculum tailored to build on areas of strength and address areas of relative weakness at Aldar Academies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver effective learning activities, tailoring support to the needs of the individual pupils in a secondary/primary context, in partnership with teachers and other professionals as necessary.
Deliver local and international intervention programs to support students accessing a secondary/primary curriculum in English as an additional language, reporting to relevant teaching staff.
Plan, prepare, maintain and evaluate learning activities targeting specific subject areas, in collaboration with subject teachers, monitoring impact on student progress.
Monitor, assess, report and maintain records of pupils and their performance, contributing to mid-year and end of year data analysis and reporting.
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN will work with students with learning support needs, including those on the Autism spectrum, specific learning difficulties and those with behavior disorders to develop effective social communication and self-regulation skills, promoting wellbeing in the secondary/primary context.
Guide and mentor SEN CA and act as liaison between HoSEN and CA where needed.
Actively contribute to meetings with families to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress, achievement and future development, including the development of Risk Audits, IEP’s and BIP’s.
Under the direction of the teacher, will work independently with individual children and small groups.
Provide appropriate help throughout the day, including break and lunchtime monitoring and pre-and post-school activities as necessary.
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN will lead ECA or after school supervision as required by the school.
Maintain a high level of pastoral care to vulnerable pupils within the class and throughout the school.
Contribute and participate in team meetings representing allocated resources at management and review meetings as necessary.
Maintain and promote a positive image of the school to children, parents and visitors.
To attend any training courses relevant to the post, ensuring continuing, personal and professional development.
Role requires working with a team.
Ability to present oneself as a role model to pupils in speech, behavior and attitude.
The Post holder may undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
All applicants must hold a valid Residents Visa (Under spouse or Father)
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or a relevant qualification at NVQ Level 3.
Previous experience of working with students of relevant age in a learning environment / school setting.
Experience of planning programs of learning for individuals, groups and whole classes.
Working knowledge and understanding of (British) National Curriculum / statutory frameworks relating to teaching.
Working knowledge of relevant school policies/codes of practice/legislation.
Desirable to have specialist training in curriculum or learning area and training strategies, as appropriate.
