Job Summary: The Electronic Technician II (ET-II) will maintain and repair electronics such as military and commercial off the shelf transmitter/receiver radios, Digital Voice Recording Systems (DVRS), communications switches and networks. Principal accountabilities: These individuals shall demonstrate the ability to apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems (i.e., those that cannot be solved solely by properly interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents) in working on electronic equipment. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments, usually less complex than those used by the ET-III Technician. They will also provide troubleshooting, training and technical support to information technology systems and equipment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repair on RF communications systems and related equipment.
  • Specific electronic equipment supported may include CM-200 Ground to Air Radio, AN/TPN-19 radio equipment (GRC-171 and GRC 211), 721S-1/2, ARC-210, Sunair 9000 series HF, PRC-117, URC-200, MOXA, LHSC, FCC-100, KY-100 and SVA.
  • Experience with Command and Control (C2) systems to include TDF, MSCT, JRE, ADSI, Link 16, Activu, SIU and Radiant Mercury to include UNIX scripting.
  • Experience with chat systems to include but not limited to TransVerse, mIRC and BICES
  • Replaces defective components and performs operational checks
  • Adheres to COMSEC procedures and management principles
  • Maintains inspection and maintenance records
  • Provides troubleshooting/technical support to information technology systems/equipment (at some locations)
  • Maintains IMDS records and updates system as required (i.e., OIL, EIL, etc.)

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Must have attended a DoD or FAA electronics or industrial school course of instruction, or an accredited correspondence school.
  • Four years of experience in electronics repair, maintenance and testing of at least one of the Communications systems identified elsewhere in this SOW.
  • Previous experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on SweDish VSAT equipment is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with radar systems to include preventive maintenance, replacing defective components and configuring/reconfiguring networks.
  • Completion of a DoD or FAA Electronics Systems and Technology course, or equivalent course of study.
  • Must possess a current CompTIA Security+CE certification. If no current CompTIA Security+CE certification, obtaining one within 6-months of start date is a condition of continued employment.
  • Current GSEC, SSCP and CCNA-Security certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge and skills to maintain and repair RF communications systems and related equipment.
  • Must have the technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of electronic systems or electronic equipment.
  • Familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments, usually less complex than those used by the Level III Technician.
  • Maintain diagnostic tapes, tools, support, and test equipment.
  • Maintain accountability of all parts of appropriate systems, spare parts and requisitioning of spare parts.
  • Proper safety procedures in system maintenance and operation IAW OSHA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the principles of electricity and electronics and electricity and electronic circuitry.
  • Knowledge and the ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, manuals, handbooks and technical specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and maintenance maintain records.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and supervision to other technicians.
