Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Legal Counsel will be part of the Corporate Governance function and is responsible to resolve simple to medium complex legal matters related to the company, including:
Counseling on commercial legal matters of the company with the aim to support business dealings whilst mitigating the legal risk to the company.
Counseling on corporate legal matters in the Middle East to enable the company to operate in compliance with legal requirements whilst meeting business needs.
Supporting Corporate Governance Matters with the aim that company complies with JV agreements and other corporate governance documents.
Counseling on other legal matters within the responsibility and expertise of the Legal Department to enable the company to comply with statutory legal obligations and mitigate the risk to the company.
Supporting Legal Compliance activities in the Middle East. Where required, the job holder may also be asked to provide legal support to the company's other business in the Middle East.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must possess the following: University Degree in Law from a reputable university; Masters degree in law desired
Bilingual Specialist expertise in a wide area of law and commercial practices, including, Contract and Commercial Law of the UAE and wider middle eastern region Company and Foreign Investment Law of the Middle EastLabour law
At least five years of experience gained within a law firm or as in-house lawyer of a MNC
At least two years of work experience in the GGC, preferably the UAE.
Experience in EPC contracting and contracting for large projects desired
Ability to influence key decision maker within and outside the Company
Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on high risk areas
Ability to work independently in the drafting, reviewing and negotiating of transactional documents on a broad range of routine to complex transactions
Problem solving skills: Identify, analyse and provide solutions to complex problems, taking into account company policies and processes, legal requirements, risks and the company’s objectives. Good judgment: being able to understand and assess different views and priorities, and provide acceptable solutions;
