About NPCC:

The National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), a Public Joint Stock company, was established in April 1973. The fabrication facilities then were located on Sadiyat Island, 3 km east of Abu Dhabi city. The present facilities are now located at Mussafah, 35 km from Abu Dhabi city. In 1973, NPCC was initially established to provide a facility for the fabrication of steel structures required by the onshore and offshore Oil and Gas production industry. In 1978 NPCC expanded its operation by setting up a custom built pipe coating facility at the yard.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Attend meetings with nominated barge personnel to review the appropriate requirements of the lifting drawings and the related procedures to be followed.
  • Carry out and report on periodic inspections of the cranes including manufacturer maintenance recommendations to the Plant department.
  • Report any defects observed as per manufacturer’s instructions to Barge Foreman.
  • Ensure that the crane, cabin and engine room are kept clean and free of clutter.
  • Clearly display and update the load chart in the cabin to ensure it is visible to all during normal operating conditions of the derrick crane.
  • Ensure compliance with Company codes, HSE & offshore regulations and the barge’s operations manual.
  • Repeat the radio instructions to the Barge Foreman during the lifts in order to confirm communication understanding.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The Derrick Crane Operator should hold a High School or Equivalent
  • Five years’ experience operating cranes onboard offshore construction barges.
  • Valid crane offshore competency certificate from Germanischer Lloyd (GL).
  • Experience in installation of top sides and heavy lift cranes (200 tons & above).
  • Experience in jacket installation utilising lifting, up ending and launching methods.
  • Complete knowledge of all standard offshore safety training requirements.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
